“…The world passeth away & the lust thereof:

but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

“‘Love ye your enemies’…the most sublime precept ever delivered to man…a false religion durst not give…without supernatural influence, it must be forever impracticable.”

– Adam Clarke, /ChristianTheology/

You once lived a life less like the world. Due to parental restraints, or christian school rules, or Best, God’s leadership for you, there were places you didn’t go, words you didn’t say, items you didn’t wear. You can return, prodigal, to Father’s house, If you really want to, If you want to go to heaven (& want to miss hell) more than anything, repeat, Anything. You can be holy. Will it be easy? Frankly, it will take all the manhood / womanhood any of us possess to make heaven. Come back, I beg you, come back. – June 2019

 “Ten lepers could associate together because partaking of the same infection;

civil society is generally maintained because composed of a leprous community.”

– Adam Clarke, /ChristianTheology/

Time was when we were all boys;

Our dads and grandpas were the men,

Standing strong and tall behind us,

A type of “God,” way-back when.

But “Time was” does not conveniently stay,

Time illusively passes, to pass away.

The dad and grandpa lie in yonder hill

We “boys” must their shoes try to fill.

Be strong “old boy.” Do God’s fine will.

“…Let’s cultivate that sensitivity, that keenness of the approval

or disapproval of the Holy Spirit.”

– S D Herron, sermon

There was a day scores (hundreds?) of holiness churches had “Holiness Unto the Lord” at the front of the sanctuary. A number of the white frame or soft-brick structures have been re-placed & sadly, in some cases this significant sign was “mis-placed.” If your congregation believes in, & practices holy living, it’s a great plan to “say so” inside or outside the church. If that is currently impossible, use the Lord’s Day “hand-out” to alert visitors that holiness is available to them & available within these very walls.

Psa 30.4

“Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his &

give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.”

“You & I must be willing to live so close to God

that He can check us on something that He may not check somebody else on.”

– S D Herron, sermon

“Thy Kingdom come…for Thine is the Kingdom…forever…” Hopefully readers recognize these as words – Key Words – in the prayer Jesus told His disciples. Matthew’s Gospel has “kingdom of heaven” 31 times (at least). Luke’s Gospel has “kingdom of God” 32 times. His Kingdom is important to Christ. Is It important to you – be honest? (The devil wants us to love with this world & its fleeting “kingdoms” & to ignore or at least, not prioritize “Thy Kingdom.”)

“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:

but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

“…It is a dangerous age, an age of apostasy, an age of drift. Water seeks it level…

It is so easy for God’s people to come down on the level with the world.”
– H Robb French, “8-Rm.House” (sermon)

Psst! The world is not worth what you’re paying for it!

– eab,

“…We can have our heart so full of divine love

that there will be not room for un-forgiveness or bitterness.”

– H Robb French, “8-Rm.House” (sermon)

Guess who

“Guess Who visited me today?”

The farmer, gardener, peasant might say.

Not with proud but with a grateful heart.

“Guess Who came and we walked a stretch

Him in His vast greatness, me in my small part.

Him always and eternal – me a former wretch

But He came sweetly to my lowly clay.

Ah, God walked with me today.

– eab, 12/15/16

“I challenge the doctrine now being taught that we must enter into a mad rivalry with the Old World in the building of battleships, the doctrine that the only way to preserve peace is to get ready for wars…”

– William J. Bryan /In His Image/

Act 17.30

“And the times of this ignorance God winked at;

but now commandeth all men every where to repent:”

“The Official Story” is put out by an official (at times a faceless bureaucrat) or one of his employees. It is passed on by people who never question anything an official says. When a person questions “The Official Story” he is suspect, as far as the official is concerned & may be labeled. Life is easier for the official when we accept what he says whether it is ½ truth or no truth. Open. Your. Eyes.

“He [Christ] warned against investments…

which would divert the affections from the great purpose of life.”

– William J. Bryan /In His Image

Evangelists & pastors used to warn about such places as Disneyland & Disneyworld. Now men/women who attend holiness churches & groups from holiness schools go. Were the yesteryear “holiness greats” wrong or are moderns “longing-for-entertainment” wrong? One has to be. I’ll stand with the anointed ministers who graced our platforms. It’s hard to imagine anything of eternal value in such places.

“Is it less than blasphemy to sing songs on Sunday such as ‘All that thrills my soul is Jesus’ but spend hours a week at ball parks or before a T.V. trying to ‘get a kick’ out of life?”

– Leonard Ravenhill, /Meat for Men/

Exo 31.17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD MADE Heaven and Earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

God made Heaven, Earth, World # 4

Blessings, blessings of all sizes.

Some clearly seen, some in disguises.

(Who doesn’t like surprises?)

At noon, at dark, at sunrises

Are mine to enjoy o’er and o’er.

Col 3.20

“Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.”

Watch WHO you quote. If he was a womanizer, is she was a feminist, if he was known for his fowl mouth (writing or vocal), if he was anti-Christian or moved from the right to the left in “christianity,” if she was anti-life (abortion, war) – it would be best to not quote them. “But their statement was so good.” Perhaps as you read it but not necessarily in the context they meant it. A weaker soul may see you quoting “x” & think he/she was good. If you “must” quote “x” (knowing they were not wholesome) please insert a disclaimer.

“Seeking the applause of men cherishes and gratifies human depravity

at the expense of divine displeasure. It is gross idolatry.”

– J A Wood, /Perfect Love/

Modesty is not “just” having enough material to cover the body. 1.) It includes clothing being loose-fitting – not stretched skin-tight. 2.) Modesty includes the design/color of the fabric not drawing eyes to certain parts of the body. 3.) And – – – in our age of “compulsive T-shirt/sweatshirt advertising,” modesty includes avoiding lettering (not just the words) which draws attention to some body sections. The devil is sly!
