Glimpses of Greatness

Was he married?

 Who was he, really?

 Who were his contemporaries?

 What was he like out of the pulpit?

 What about his prayer life?

 Where was he born?

 Where did his travels take him?

 When did she teach?

 When did he write that?

 Why did she have that impact?

 Why was he so successful?

 What about his sense of humor?

C B Widmeyer – death, Dec. 14, 1974

Jesus has a table spread
Where the saints of God are fed,
He invites His chosen people, “Come and dine”;
With His manna He doth feed
And supplies our every need:
O ’tis sweet to sup with Jesus all the time!

Refrain

“Come and dine,” the Master calleth, “Come and dine”;
You may feast at Jesus’ table all the time;
He Who fed the multitude, turned the water into wine,
To the hungry calleth now, “Come and dine.”

The disciples came to land,
Thus obeying Christ’s command,
For the Master called unto them, “Come and dine”;
There they found their heart’s desire,
Bread and fish upon the fire;
Thus He satisfies the hungry every time.

Soon the Lamb will take His bride
To be ever at His side,
All the host of Heaven will assembled be;
O ’twill be a glorious sight,
All the saints in spotless white;
And with Jesus they will feast eternally.

C B Widmeyer died 12/14/1974 at Los An­ge­les, Cal­i­for­nia.  He attended God’s Bible School and went on to hold six college degrees.  He was married in 1908 to the former Maud F. Logue who preceded him in death dying in 1965.  He also wrote “In the New Jerusalem” and “Can the Master Count on You?” Charles Brenton Widmeyer was born 7/19/1884, in Morgan, West Vir­gin­ia.

C B Widmeyer – birth, Jul. 19, 1884

When the toils of life are over,
And we lay our armor down,
And we bid farewell to earth with all its cares,
We shall meet and greet our loved ones,
And our Christ we then shall crown,
In the new Jerusalem.

Refrain

There’ll be singing, there’ll be shouting
When the saints come marching home,
In Jerusalem, in Jerusalem,
Waving palms with loud hosannas
As the King shall take His throne,
In the new Jerusalem.

2. Though the way is sometimes lonely,
He will hold me with His hand,
Through the testings and the trials I must go.
But I’ll trust and gladly follow,
For sometime I’ll understand,
In the new Jerusalem.

3. When the last goodbye is spoken
And the tear stains wiped away,
And our eyes shall catch a glimpse of glory fair,
Then with bounding hearts we’ll meet Him
Who hath washed our sins away,
In the new Jerusalem.

4. When we join the ransomed army
In the summer land above,
And the face of our dear Savior we behold,
We will sing and shout forever,
And we’ll grow in perfect love,
In the new Jerusalem.

C B (Charles Brenton) Widmeyer was born this date, 7/19/1884 at Morgan, WV. 

He attended God’s Bible School (Cincinnati, OH), was Pre­sident of Point Lo­ma Na­za­rene Un­i­versity (CA), and later was chair­man of the Na­za­rene De­part­ment of Min­is­ter­i­al Re­lief (1923-48).  He also wrote the words and music to “Come and Dine.”  

Wid­mey­er died De­cem­ber 14, 1974, at Los An­ge­les, Cal­i­for­nia.
