CHRIST

Every sinner who hears of a Sinless One,

Every father who hears God had a Son,

Every planner who hears Redemption is done,

     Is drawn to Christ.

The only way to reach heaven’s door,

The only way to tread the golden “floor,”

The only way to enjoy Redemption and more,

     Is through the blood of Christ.

Christ is the Key to heaven’s lock,

Christ is the pure Shepherd, of a pure flock,

Christ is the center of creation’s calendar and clock.

     The only hope for all is Christ.

Truth

Are you willing to die for Truth? (Not be an idle question.)

Be searching a good old Bible, Be obeying Jesus’ teachings. “Buy the truth & sell it not…” (Pro 23.23).

Friend, don’t let a day of testing find you out of victory,

lacking that VITAL love connection with Truth, i.e. Christ.

CHRIST’S COMING (5^th card)

Prophet and king had gladly told

And written it with care.

The young had learned it from the old,

Both delighted in the share.

 

The beggar heard it and believed

In His future wealthy reign.

Oppressed people were not grieved,

A loving Ruler, they were to gain.

 

They wanted Christ, That Chosen Race.

Although the Book told the place,

They missed Him. A sad case!

 

Pastor and layman with voices bold

And teachers also bear,

The message, “We are cold, too cold

To go with Him, so fair.”

 

We’ve been chilled and deceived,

By “riches”, in the main.

I’m afraid we’d be relieved

If He didn’t come again.

 

Relieved, because of our slow pace.

Relieved, we lack His offered grace.

Relieved, not to see Him face to face.

Fanny Crosby – converted to Christ

ON THIS DATE

Fanny Crosby was dramatically converted to Christ 11/20/1850 at Methodist revival meeting.

She had been religious before but said thd following about her experience “The Lord planted a star in my life and no cloud has ever obscured the light.”  (Remember – these are the words of a blind lady.)

It would be about fifteen years before she started writing hymn texts.  After she began it seems she “could not stop.” J  Some counts of her hymn texts go as high as 8000.  They include “Rescue the Perishing” “Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross” “All the Way My Savior Leads Me” and “Saved By Grace” to name a few.  Fanny was born in Putnam County, NY (3/24/1820), and died at Bridgeport, CT (2/12/1915).

Blessèd assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

When a girl decides she might not want to marry “Jake” (choose any name) she may flirt a little, be a little careless with her dress or hair – “It’s just Jake who’s coming.”

When an individual or church begins having questions about Christ there will be flirtatious actions with the world.

This DATE – Earthquake Synod

5/19/1382  A synod meeting of Blackfriars, London, to condemn John Wycliffe (c. 1320-1384) and his followers was shaken by an earthquake.  The terrified clergymen fled.  This “Earthquake Synod” (as it was nicknamed) was led by Archbishop Courtenay and condemned as heretical twenty-four theses from the writings of Wycliffe.

Wycliffe later said that God sent the earthquake “because the friars had put heresy upon Christ.  The earth trembled as it did when Christ was damned to bodily death.”
