Luther quote

“If I were master of the country I would not allow them to practice usury.” [1]

Table Talk p. 353

The Sword: man-made, man welded – brings death at both ends (“…all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword” Mat 26.52)

The Word: God-made, God inspired – brings Life, now and everlasting.

– eab, 1/11/17

HE MADE

He made the tree on which He hung;

The earth to which it lately clung

When innocent, it raised leafy arms,

While robins among them lived and sung.

He made the ore from which, by craft,

With forge white-hot and windy draft,

The town blacksmith sledged, with sinewed arms,

Long nails; innocent of greed or graft.

He made the sponge, carelessly raised,

Knew the near pool where it had “grazed,”

Commanding food with tiny arms,

Before beaching innocent and dazed.

He made the sources, rich in ink,

Where artist oft gave his pen drink,

Scrolling with careful, innocent arms:

“The King of the Jews,” making folks think.

He made the men, that “unmade” Him.

Knew their thoughts, goals, and every whim.

And as they nailed holy feet and arms,

Heaven’s innocence He prayed on them.

– eab, Nov. ’82

Women who want to be worldly are emboldened by a pastor’s wife who is worldly. And sadly, what some of these women do not realize, is that some pastor’s wives are on their way to perdition because of their spirit of self-will and disobedience. It is a big responsibly to be a pastor’s wife.

– eab, 1/16/17

“The church was never sent to entertain men.”

– Beverly Carradine, fr his Church Entertainments

If you are a professing Christian with at least an eighth-grade education and you are getting your “news” from the main-stream-media, you may need either your head or your heart examined.

– eab, 1/25/17

Act 16.9

“…There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.”

Positions bring possessions and possessions bring positions. This is true in the politico-economic world and it is true in Christ. (No, I did not say “in church.” L ) There are true positions and true possessions of Grace n Christ.

– eab, 2/14/17

[1] This is the Biblical word for “interest.”

Luther Quote

“He who will have, for his master and king, Jesus Christ, the son of the virgin,

who took upon himself our flesh and our blood, will have the devil for his enemy.”

Table Talk, p.254

The day we’re born we start to get older. Our parents have bitter-sweet moments as they realize we’re moving from baby to toddler, to all boy/all girl etc. We enjoy having birthdays, placing height, pencil marks on an “allowed” spot & love turning 16 etc. Somewhere (you decide where) along life’s Trail growing older became a Trial. Somewhere getter older turns into getting “old.” Though the soul should mature, I’m thankful I see no Scripture proving the soul gets “old.”

– eab, 10/7/17

FALL

Fall, that most brilliant of seasons,

With an aroma all its own,

Has for various reasons

On my affections grown.

It’s partly all the color;

Red? No, reddish brown?

Orange? It’s one or the other,

That leaf that just fell down.

And it’s partly the falling leaf;

A twirl, a spin, a sliding drop;

A sky dive, Oh, so brief

With the slightest clatter of a stop.

And it’s also that “fally” odor;

Corn in shock, ear on stem,

Leaves when they’re walked over,

As you crunch your way through them.

A major part, I must admit

Is school; a bell, a book;

A different room in which to sit,

To listen, learn, and look.

And – I might as well be honest,

I like pumpkin pie, a little squash;

All the nuts the trees rain on us.

And Delicious, Jonathan, and McIntosh.

Fall’s nice warm days and cool nights,

That hazy, smoky distant view,

The full autumn moon that on us lights,

Those are truly reasons, too.

Oh, I know that fall must terminate

To winter; it is only just.

But I’ll enjoy autumn before it’s too late,

For enjoying fall is a must.

– eab, Oct. ‘75

Today I heard a cute little child’s voice ask, “What do these words say?” Such wonderful trust! You & I can likewise ask our Father in Heaven the same favor. That dad answered – as we’re read God’s Word, don’t you think He will also answer “What do these words say?”

– eab, 10/6/17

“If I am even with my enemy, the debt is paid;

but if I forgive it I oblige him forever.”

– William Penn, from his MAXIMS

My late pastor, J D Webb, Sr. (1 of the 10 most influential men in my life), believed he’d be alive when Christ came. He passed on in 1986. He did not live to see the end of the world but he did see the end of HIS world. You & I likewise will see the end of Our world, whether or not it coincides with the end of The world or not. Friend, are you prepared, if YOUR world ends tonight?

– eab, 10/5/17

Mat 6. 15

“But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

I suppose it makes people feel “powerful” to assert “facts” they can not prove, produce theories out of thin air, or to pretend “to know” more than they know. No one (who rejects Biblical accounts) “knows” what happened only 4000 yrs ago, to say nothing of “40,000 yrs” or “4,000,000 yrs.” Dreamers are not to be followed, Nor held in awe, Nor imitated.

A Quote From Luther

“…Seeing it [Gospel] is a kind of preaching which makes people angry especially the great and powerful and deep-learned…great courage is necessary and the Holy Ghost to those that intend to preach it.”

Table Talk, p.108

If I read Daniel chapter 2 correctly all “modern countries” are relatively insignificant – probably at best, toes on the mixed-up feet of the 4th kingdom. This kingdom, though destined-to-fall/fail, is still here (under 1 guise or another) & will, with little doubt, usher in the antichrist’s brief, blasphemous reign. READ your Bible. Pray earnestly that you, Friend, will have discernment to stay out of the One-world church. It seems to be expanding its ecumenical tentacles among former holy people. BEWARE.

– eab, 8/26/17

Religion and wars

Religion and wars seem opposite at first sight –

As opposite as day and night.

But they’ve been partners in the past,

And will be – till the Lord comes at last.

Many a saint has through them found “his end,”

And more sinners they to hell did send.

– eab, Aug  2006

a great fall

The broad-way was calling, was beckoning,

And with short-sighted, selfish reckoning

You answered its alluring call.

Now you have “freedom,” “liberty,”

“I’m headed also to heaven, see?”

No, Friend, you’ve had a great fall.

– eab Aug  2012

I’m not attracted to crosses – I’m greatly attracted the God/Man who died on that middle one.

I’m not attracted to graves – I’m attracted to a certain Middle-Eastern, EMPTY one.

I’m not necessarily attracted to Jerusalem (old or new) but to the One who rose heavenward

from near there, and Who returns to that spot to judge the world and rule it FOREVER.

– eab, 8/25/17

“Gipsy Smith saw the difference between repentance and conversion

like the difference between awaking in the morning and getting up.”

– Andrew W Blackwood, from his Preaching From The Bible

1Jo 5. 18

“We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.”

Expressions of gratitude can be wordless: a nod, a smile, a wave of the hand, a “thumbs up.”

Secondly, there are verbal expressions: “Thank you,” “thanks,” or similar words. But the highest expression of gratitude is (in a sense) wordless again; it is a life lived showing our fellowman how glad we are for their benevolence(s) and showing God how grateful we are His multiplied blessings. I want to live-out my thanksgiving to God, d-a-i-l-y.

– eab, 7/18/17

Now it a good time to commit to having those Raised Bed Gardens of which you’ve dreamed. (You’re not going to get any younger.) You can use treated 2x4s if you make sure the soil – therefore roots – do not touch the treated wood. You can use less expensive 2x4s if you coat them with boiled linseed oil. I suggest at least 2-3 coats (1st one thinned to penetrate more) before you put them together. Plan to recoat the wood every year or two. Have put my 2017 coat on most of mine – hope to finish this week. 9/2/17

A Quote From Luther

“When thou art of this mind, that Christ and the confidence of the Law may dwell together in thy heart…

it is not Christ but the devil that dwells in thee, Who under the mask and form of Christ terrifies thee…”

Table Talk, p.103

It may come as no surprise, neither “history” “geography” “math” “literature” nor “grammar” are in the Bible (“science” is there, negatively). What IS there? Readeth 4, “Reading” 6, and “Read” 70 times. “Writeth” 1, “Writing” 38, “Wrote” 62, “Write” 88, and “Written” 280 times. The ability to Read and Write surpass all other “subjects.” The child who’s been taught to read well can go on to learn many subjects. The child who’s been taught to write properly can express all that God have ordained for him. Home-schooling parent never, NEVER under-estimate the importance of these two.

– eab, 8/28/17

P R A Y or  P L A Y

Men who should be praying,

Are (immaturely) playing.

Women who should be in a place of prayer,

Are more concerned about face and hair.

– eab, 8/28/09

The founders/fighters of the revolution (1776) didn’t do Christians a favor. God is KING. That revolution lowered or obliterated understanding of Kingdom, Kinghood, being Subjects, Royalty and gave instead a spirit of rebellion and “I’ll do it my way” mentality. The longer I live the less I’m convinced that 1776 should be celebrated. God has graciously given local revivals but we’re not the nation we could have been if we’d learned human kingship and applied that to the KING of heaven and His Kingdom.

– eab, 8/26/17

“The actor who had to play the part of pagan gods and heroes, the teacher who was forced to teach pagan mythologies in pagan schools, the gladiator who had to take human life for sport, the soldier who wielded the sword, the policeman, and the judge all had to renounce their heathen professions if they wanted to be baptized.”

– Dietrich Bonoeffer, COST OF DISCIPLESHIP

1Jo 4. 3a

“And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God:

and this is that spirit of antichrist…

False religion #1 The devil is slick – he has a false spirit which masquerades as the “holy spirit.” Souls who once knew better, were in a “church” last week and felt a spirit which they assumed was from God – it was not. Said counterfeit spirit may have given an emotional high, caused them to “speak in tongues,” subjected them to jerk or fall to the floor, may have lead them to make guttural sounds even animal noises, but, just like the devil, this spirit did not require them to live holy. – eab, Spring 2017

False religion #2 Avoid all meetings where the above is practiced. If you find yourself in such an atmosphere, leave. Leave now! “What will my friends think?” What your friends think is far less important than you exposing yourself to that spirit from satan. God’s Holy Spirit has real demonstrations but they are modest, reasonable, and not poured out on men or women living in sin. – eab, Spring 2017

A Quote From Luther

“We cannot vex the devil more than by teaching,

preaching, singing, and talking of Jesus…”

Table Talk, p.81

A number of past pastors without even a college Degree had enough God on them to faithfully Decree, “Thus saith the Lord.” (“Thus saith the Lord” occurs over 400 times in the OT.) Too many modern men are confused over which Bible to use, to say nothing of getting God’s pungent message from It.

GREEN BLUE

Lord Jesus draw me closer and closer to You

Till it’s an easy step from earth’s green to heaven’s blue,

From earth’s brown paths to yon street of God,

To the Greatest of great Shepherds, to Your eternal fold.

Daily, I pray Thee, my resolve and strength, renew.

8/25/17

You don’t understand your wife? I can understand that.

You don’t understand your husband? I can understand that.

But you don’t understand yourself either, do you???  So – – –

“cut them (husband/wife) some slack.” Be patient. LOVE when you don’t understand.

– eab, 5/9/17

“…They show by every word and gesture that they do not belong to this earth…

Those who now possess it by violence and injustice shall lose it and

those who here have renounced it,

who were meek to the point of the cross shall rule the new earth.”

Dietrich  Bonoeffer, COST OF DISCIPLESHIP

1Jo 2. 18

“…as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists;

whereby we know that it is the last time.”

Controllers don’t want the people they control to think – – – they might think enough to see that they’re controlled. This has military, political, occupational, and even religious applications. By joyous contrast, Truth makes you free (Joh 8.32).
