Luther Quote

“…this is the proper office of an apostle, to set forth the glory and benefit of Christ.”

Commentary on Galatians p 255

God’s man comes with the urgency of a prophet, the solemnity of a judge, and the authority of the King. If any of these are consistently missing, you may not be hearing God’s man, regardless of how popular he is. – eab, 11/28/17

TAXES FOR TWO

What more could an angler wish?

Brother Peter “got paid” to fish.

He had a coin right out of the blue,

It paid His tax and Peter’s too.

The rest could be served in a dish.

– eab, 11/28/05

“He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me…” (Mat 10.37). If Christ is this strict with the earliest, closest relationship He surely is opposed to those who love their “fatherland” or “mother country” more than they love Christ. Friend, do YOU love Christ above all?

– eab, 11/19/17

“I give light by being myself consumed.”

Superscription inscribed on the tomb of Adam Clarke (by a burning candle)

– as given by Thomas Cook in New Testament Holiness

The pastor who regularly goes to a secular job may argue he’s supplying his needs. Is he inadvertently denying his parishioners the blessing of giving (“…more blessed to give than to receive” Act 20.35) even poorer parishioners? Is he missing opportunities to pray & exercise faith? It’d be better for his children to remember the times God supplied needed food due to prayer, than to remember the years he “put in” at some factory. [Thoughts to consider – May each man mind God.]

– eab, 11/26/17

Psa 1. 1

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”

Either you’re a saint or you ain’t (excuse the vernacular). There’s no middle ground, no “I hope so,” no maybe, no crossed fingers. So – – – which is it for you, Friend? 11/28/17

Luther Quote ++++

Luther Quote

“…To believe in the stars or trust thereon or to be affrightened thereat is idolatry and against the first commandment.”

Table Talk, p.344

They COULD have. They SHOULD have. And, truth-be-known, they WOULD have – but for their peers. They gave their peers too much respect and sadly – – – gave God too little.

– eab, 11/6/17

WOOD

There’s little doubt that as a lad

Jesus helped His earthly step-dad;

Knew an old form of carpentry,

Worked with wood from many a tree.

And died on one – STORY sooo sad!

– eab, 11/5/17

God is created life, ALL life. He therefore appreciates how valuable life is. The devil (who “created” nothing but havoc, sin, and death) has no respect for life, in fact, he pushes for death in abortion, war, suicide, anyway he can see men die. God = Life; satan = death.

– eab, 11/6/17

“Joy can and should be cultivated, just as faith or any other fruit of the Spirit is cultivated.”

– Samuel Logan Brengle (eab is uncertain of source)

God is a Being of Words. God created Words. His were the first recorded Words. God communicated with Adam/Eve by Words. His Words warned them; He kept His Word 1.) they died spiritually that very day, 2.) they began to die physically that very day, 3.) all their descendants died, are dying, or will die (unless alive when Christ comes). He Was a God of His Word – He Is a God of His Word – He Will Be a God of His Word! Believe It !!!

– eab, 11/6/17

Joh 1. 1

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

The devil used “vision” in the Garden of Eden; she “…saw that the tree was good…” (This was AFTER satan got Eve to doubt God’s Word.) God warned in the Bible about images i.e. that which they could “see.” In our day satan is using images as never before, repeat, AS NEVER BEFORE. I beg of you, stop identifying with images: sports figures, TV “personalities,” idols on the “silver screen,” news images.

Luther quote

“Cannons and firearms are cruel and damnable machines, I believe them to have been the direct suggestion of the devil.”

Table Talk p. 331

ALERT! ALERT! Every teacher: behind a desk, behind a pulpit, on: radio, TV, or online, either is actively serving God or he is serving this world. (“He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad” Mat 12.30).

– eab, 10/30/17

JERICHO

The rocks tumbled, as the mortar crumbled,

As the walls came down.

And what was that, made them fall flat?

Israel with a mighty sound.

Jericho.

– eab, Nov. ‘70

Only God can see the true value of a soul; satan, blindfolded by his hatred for God can’t. Sinners, blindfolded by their lust for this world & self can’t. Saints come nearer seeing than satan or sinners, because of their relationship with God.

– eab, 10/30/17

“Carnal anger springs from an unholy principle…”

– H A Baldwin, from his HOLINESS & the HUMAN ELEMENT

“Righteous indignation does not and may be and often is, the result of holiness itself.”

– H A Baldwin, from his HOLINESS & the HUMAN ELEMENT

The prime qualification for being a teacher in a christian school/college is to be filled with the Holy Spirit. If he is not filled with the Holy Spirit he’ll be filled with a worldly spirit. This spirit from the world will show up in his music, his illustrations, his “slang” words, his humor. The danger is that students will think this “normal” when it is carnally sub-normal.

– eab, 10/30/17

1Jo 3. 15

“Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and

ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”

Are you retired? Semi-retired? To what did you retire? More fishing? More hunting? More gardening? If you know your sins are all forgiven & that you are filled with His Spirit, allow me to encourage you to spend more time in your prayer-closet. You won’t have to drive far, it won’t cost money to go/stay there a while. It will cost time – time away from a favorite hobby but I believe I’m correct in saying, the more time you spend there, the better it will be.

Luther Quote

“…Jerome and Origen, God forgive them, were the cause that allegories were held in such esteem.”

Table Talk, p.328

“Lord, somewhere, today, allow someone to ask themselves 1 or all 5 of these questions:”

1.) “Who am I?”   2.) “What is Life?” 3.) “Where am I Going?” 4.) “When will I Die?” 5.) “Why am I Here?”

– eab, 10/31/17

SLOW PEN

Though the “quill” has run across so many lines,

One closes, knowing he did not fully profess,

All thoughts that flowed, faster than pen could flow

The pen a freight train – the mind, a midnight “express.”

– eab, 11/1/06

You married HER you thought! Ah, that union brought you into an association with her mom, with her dad, with her sis, with her bro., with her grouchy old aunt, with her anti-social uncle. Marriage has “strings” of which we didn’t dream “back when.”

– eab, 11/1/17

“The more holy a saint of God becomes the more he hates sin.”

– H A Baldwin, from his HOLINESS & the HUMAN ELEMENT

Some Greco-Romans (past & present) worship the sun. Christians worship the Maker of the sun.

Jews (past & present) “worship” the sabbath. Christians worship the “Lord…of…sabbath” (Mat 12.8, Mar 12.28, Luk 6.5).

– eab, 11/1/17

1Jo 3. 9

“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and

he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”

Don’t think it strange when mature Christians do not read or readily quote some popular “christian” preacher/teachers. Christ said, “My sheep hear my voice…” (Joh10.27) and, “…a stranger will they not follow…” (Joh10.5). BE AWARE – a false “Christianity” stalks the land.

– eab, 11/2/17

Luther Quote

“The predictions of the apocalypse are accomplished already as far as the white horse.”

Table Talk, p.325

Five basic attitudes toward the King James Bible (vowels, a, e, i, o, u will help you remember) YOU

A ADMANTLY STAND FOR & ADMIRE THE KJV

E ENJOY READING & MEMORIZING FROM THE KJV

I  IGNORE (or are IGNORANT of) THE BATTLE TO DISCREDIT THE KJV

O OPPOSE THE KJV (based primarily on the opinion of “scholars”)

U UTTERLY & URGENTLY FIGHT TO ERASE THE INFLUENCE OF THE KJV

– eab, 4/11/13

LIKE WATER JARS

When God finds a man who’s willing

And hungry for holy filling,

He fills him, like water jars, up to the brim.

God is never known for failing,

Nor “short,” nor un-availing,

When a man is sold all out to Him.

– eab, Oct 2008

If the souls in heaven were to be attired in their “native” dress (both for their civilization & their century) it would be the one greatest variety of outfits ever seen by man, each of them modest for their era.

– eab, 6/29/13

“Sin cannot remain alone, it must win others.”

– E B Annable, HSBC message (uncertain date)

Why are “Christians” pro war? Christ was not pro war. Nor Paul, nor Peter, nor John, nor James, nor Luke. This Pro war stance is therefore from the world (and the worldly church).

– eab, 8/16/14

Rom 1. 32

“…they which commit such things are worthy of death,

not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”

The expansion of Halloween “stuff” and the expanded time this junk is for sale, are sad signs of the paganization of America.

Luther Quote

“True: the law is also God’s Word but

it is as far different from the gospel as heaven is from earth.”

Table Talk, p.269

Do not trust “art.” Perhaps it is not a compliment to call God an “Artist.” Some, if not all, art is an imitation of reality. God, in wonderful contrast, CREATES reality. Man is often an imitator: if not of God of Heaven and Earth, then of the god of this world (2Co 4.4) for satan also is an imitator.

-eab, Dec. 2016

WHICH SON?

One son said he would

But around his promise, he slid.

The other said “No.”

But afterward, thankfully, “did.”

Which of these two got the blessing?

– – – Don’t tell me, you’re still guessing!

– eab, 10/10/17

You can be indoctrinated and have the ability to regurgitate said “indoctrination” on a level or two without having a willingness or truthfulness to think outside your self-proscribed box. Truth is not limited to the highly educated, in fact, there can be a dangerous closed-mindedness among those who consider themselves educated. Think. Study the Bible. Commune with God.

-eab, 12/8/16

“Whatever the sin-made world happens to be clamoring after at the moment

is cleverly shown to be the very thing the gospel offers only the religious product is better.”

– A W Tozer (understand as sarcasm)

Every TRUE scientist hungers for truth, even when it is contrary to his pre-conceived idea. By unpardonable contrast, the pseudo scientist is happy with his fiction; it fits satan’s agenda. Cheer up – truth will triumph. “…All liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone…”(Rev 21.8). This has to include lying “scientists,” if they do not repent.

– eab, 9/18/16

Psa 5. 11

“But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy,

because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.”
