“Have Thine Own Way”

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after Thy will,
While I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Search me and try me, Master, today!
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
As in Thy presence humbly I bow.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me, I pray!
Power, all power, surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Hold o’er my being absolute sway!
Fill with Thy Spirit ’till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me.

Launch out, into the deep.
Oh let the shore line go.
Launch out, launch out in the ocean divine,
Out where the full tides flow.

A B Simpson was born 12/15/1843 on Prince Edward Island in Canada.  It was my privilege to see the spot where his family home was.  His dad had a mill and would cut lumber, place it on a small boat and float it down the narrow creek that boarded their land to a ship building yard.  Simpson was a lad who grew up with the sea – this song reflects this boyhood scenes.  He died 10/29/1919 in Nyack, NY.
