It is love…faith…hope…passion, purpose, determination…devotion. 

It is a divine discontent with formality, ceremonialism, lukewarmness…noise…

The Salvation Army was founded this date, 7/5/1865.  It was originally named Christian Mission.  Brengle was little more than five years old when it started but he rose to become one of the greatest voices in the Salvation Army and, WAS the greatest American voice therein.

J Edwin Orr – birth, Jan. 12, 1912

“SEARCH ME, O GOD”

Search me, O God,
And know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior,
Know my thoughts, I pray.
See if there be
Some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin

I praise Thee, Lord,
For cleansing me from sin;

James Edwin Orr was born this date (1/12/1912) in Belfast, Ireland.  The clear preacher of holiness, Paul W. Finch, preached at least one service when Orr was in the audience. He is said to have written this (one of his six hymns) in Ngarua­wa­hia, New Zea­land.
