TENSES
Now is our pleasure, in parts divided;
Three ways delighted,
Triplet in nature.
Present, past, future, in thoughts united,
Separately sighted,
In realm of measure.
But in the Land of Bliss, where time is no more,
Pleasure is endless, no “after” “before.”
An eternal kiss on that wondrous shore.
– eab, Dec 1966
“When God saved me He pulled the nails out of my board
but the holes are still there.”
– unknown man in AK, summer ‘85
Is the Bible a dead Book to you? (It is to the vast majority of sinners.) Is the Bible a dying Book to you? (It is to the ALL who are backsliding.) Please be aware of YOUR level of interest in God’s Holy Book. And become aware that we live in a shallow age of pictures, moving pics, animations, funny cartoons. If none of these were sinful (& some are), if none of these were ever off-color (some are), they pull you away from the “work” of reading. They are often entertaining – Holy Scriptures are not entertaining, nor where they written to be. They’re here that we might be made ready to go up there. 12/6/19
Luk 21.28
“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up,
& lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”
“The genuine work of love is always a hidden work.”
– Dietrich Bonoeffer
The devil doesn’t want to think about the vertical. He was once up (heaven), was kicked out to never return. He fell to earth (Luk 10.18). He is destined to go further down (“lake of fire” Rev 20.10). Nor does satan want people thinking vertically. So he & those aligned with him, have imagined, have drawn, an unrealistic horizontal “universe,” anything to keep them from thinking about their soon vertical drop to damnation. -12/6/19
“The sanctification of the Church means its separation
from all that is unholy, from sin.”
– Dietrich Bonoeffer
