“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Where do you want to be when they call 911? Do you want an obit to say you died at the Fair? My home village had a Pumpkin Show – mild, small town carnival. But I spent very little, if any time there & was just 14 when I left for God’s Bible School. Please consider if a Fair or Carnival is where The Christian belongs.

“Then I saw in my dream…they presently saw…Vanity Fair…there is…to be seen jugglings, cheats, games, plays, fools, apes, knaves, and rogues, and that of every kind.— Here are to be seen, too, and that for nothing, thefts, murders, adulteries, false-swearers…” – John Bunyan’s description

“…Three capital truths only —‘God is — God is love — God is mine in Christ’…”

– John Fletcher, /Works I/

Jer 25.26 And all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the WORLD, which are upon the face of the EARTH: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them. Earth&World – think. #22

Saint or sinner can each tell

Why a church is bone-dry.

And each can offer his reason

As to the “where” and the “why.”

But it will take all

The sainthood we’re possessing,

To pray and obey

And again bring down God’s blessing.

Mat 11.28

“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

If the governor of your state or province sent a text to meet him tomorrow morning you could have reason for concern – what did I do? Or question – what does he want me to do? If you’ve already met him you might not be too worried. But one way or the other you would perhaps feel complimented that a man of his position wants to meet with you. There are hundreds of governors of sections of earth all over the earth – there is only One Maker of earth & heaven. He, Friend, wants to meet you tomorrow. Bend every plan so you can honor this wonderful request.

“…Be always ready to own any fault you have been in.”

– John Wesley, quoted by R S Foster, /Christian Purity/

Young lady, considering whether to say “yes” when he “pops the question,” step back & look at his spending habits. (Sadly, some guy are big but haven’t grown-up.) They’re undisciplined in their buying. If they want it, they’ll sign on the line & you may be in debt for years due to their lack of self-control. Is he indebt? How long has he been in debt? What did he buy which incurred this burden? Do not take this warning lightly. You & a future husband (it may or may not be this man) will live happier without debt.

“…the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone”

The greatest reason to go to Heaven is its King. Period. Love Him supremely today. Now – allow a different look at heaven/hell. If hell had no heat (it does) & heaven had no perfect climate (it does) heaven is much preferable because of its Pure air & Pure water. It’s “squeaky” clean. Hell holds the corruption of the ages, it’s the sewer of all the earth.

– eab, 8/21/18

“These good men always accused the devil rather than the mob itself”

– Abel Stevens – speaking of the Methodist preachers who were mobbed

A church can be place to start the path to heaven, when truth is preached, sung, testified to, & lived.

A church can also (sadly) be an entry to hell, when sins are spoken of lightly, carnality is seen as normal for “saints,” & mere emotion is portrayed as the Holy Spirit.

– eab, 8/21/18

The greatest preparation a man can make

To preach the Gospel for Jesus’ sake

Is to allow the Spirit from above

To replace Adam’s nature with perfect love.

– eab, 8/21/15

1Jo 3.9

“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God”

Are you mistaken about mistakes? All earth-bound saints have made mistakes – mistakes of the hand or head. Sin by contrast, is an issue of the heart. Please stopping calling mistakes sin (saying “I lied” when you didn’t) & stop calling sin a mistake. Sin in intentional. Always.

– eab, 8/21/18

“Love of money is probably more responsible for modern wars than any other one cause…the blood of many being shed to enrich a few.”

– Wm J Bryan, /In His Images/

Many an old church had a graveyard, behind it, beside it. As we ascended the steps of the church we could see graves of saints who had ascended to heaven. As we came back out of the sanctuary, the descended steps could remind us of some – bodies were right out there – who’d probably descended into the bad place. A church combined with a cemetery was a good idea.

“…Murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone”

A lie tries to hide something. All lies are despicable & have satan behind them (Joh 8.44b). We should never accept lying as “normal,” even in a dishonest society, for ourselves, or for our children. (If you tell a “little white lie” you’re guilty of a big black sin.)

– eab, 5/6/18

“Bees don’t fight honey – Christians don’t fight holiness.”

– George B Vernon II

Every soul enjoying heaven was separated from the world in e*v*e*r*y way that God directed them to be. Every soul incarcerated in hell was, in some way, connected to the world (although it may have appeared that they were separated from it). Those in heaven have not missed the world. Those in hell would “give the world” if they could redo their decision. “…If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1Jo 2.15).

– eab, 5/8/18

Where leads the road from commencement?

Ah, yes – where leads that road?

And what be its direction,

And, how heavy its load,

That load, on the road, from commencement.

– eab, May 1968

Jas 1.3

“Knowing [this] that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”

Never allow satan to convince you that what God is of you is “really insignificant”. God doesn’t play games. When the Lord requires you to “give up” something He knows that that particular “item” is crucial to your eternal salvation.

– eab, 5/8/18

…The greatest poem ever written consists of one hundred and eighty-eight words. It is the Twenty-Third Psalm.

– Bruce Barton
