Posts Tagged ‘“Yack-knife”’

My dad was raised in a

southern Ohio village where some Europeans settled after coming to this country. There were (I don’t understand the connection, if any) both Hungarians and Swedes. Dad told of one of the men saying, “When I first came to America I couldn’t say ‘yack-knife’ at all. Now I can say ‘yack-knife’ as good as anybody.” (Almost all men in by-gone-days carried a jack-knife; larger, if ordinary folks, smaller, if businessmen.) I could wish men still carried “yack-knives” but more important, that we Carry Love.

And YOU can love people “as good as anybody.” 🙂
