The beasts came to Adam – he named them

The beasts came to Noah – he “saved” them

The beasts will come to the redeemed again

 in the New Heaven, New Earth

At the Fall,   At the Flood,   At the Fulfillment

PATRIARCH

And they gathered in from the Midwest and north,

Some of the poorer sort and some of some worth,

And they bowed their heads at all the right times,

And all showed respect as the organ played chimes,

A patriarch of the family had died.

They marched out in their blues and grays,

And nodded to each other in vaguely familiar ways,

Stood silently by and slowly walked and then stood around,

As the casket slipped into the ground.

A patriarch of the family had died.

They ate the meal that the neighbors brought,

And talked to each other how they really ought

To get together in some other places,

Then they got in their cars and drove out,

Each of them knowing without a doubt,

They next them they’d see each on this earth,

Would be when another had died of equal worth,

Another patriarch of the family would have died.

Thine forever! God of love,
Hear us from Thy throne above;
Thine forever may we be
Here and in eternity.

Thine forever! Lord of life,
Shield us through our earthly strife;
Thou, the Life, the Truth, the Way,
Guide us to the realms of day.

Thine forever! O how blest
They who find in Thee their rest!
Savior, Guardian, heavenly Friend,
O defend us to the end.

Thine forever! Savior, keep
These Thy frail and trembling sheep,
Safe alone beneath Thy care,
Let us all Thy goodness share.

Thine forever in that day
When the world shall pass away;
When the trumpet note shall sound,
And the nations underground

Shall the awful summons hear,
Which proclaims the judgment near.
Thine forever, ’neath Thy wings
Hide and save us, King of kings.

Thine forever! Thou our Guide,
All our wants by Thee supplied,
All our sins by Thee forgiven,
Lead us, Lord, from earth to Heaven.

Mary Fawler Hooper Maude was born this date, 10/25/1819 at Bloomsbury, London, England.  She wrote the above “Thine forever! God of love.”
Mary died sometime in 1913 at Overton, Flintshire, England.
