“If God calls you to be a preacher,
don’t stoop to be a king.” (said to his son)
– William Gladstone, quoted by Tom Reed.
Bible’s most famous text

The Bible’s most famous text doesn’t require $1,000,000 to “not perish.” It doesn’t require 1000 man-hours community service per annum to “not perish.” Nor does it require a once-a-lifetime trip to a supposed “sacred spot;” all of which can be impossible for Mr x or Miss y. Believing (& continuing to believe) in Christ is all that’s required to “not perish.” All may do this – ALL. If you were raised that God wills some to heaven/some to hell, you’ll have to exercise your own WILL (God gave each a free will) and Believe. Full-fledged Calvinism argues against Joh 3.16 but “John the divine” is right and John Calvin is wrong.

BODY BASKET

Your body is the basket in which your soul is carried;
Your soul lives forever, your body is soon buried.
In life these two cooperate
In death these two separate.
Do not cut nor cut off your body’s brittle life
Do not embitter nor break your soul with strife
The body is important but keep it in its place.
The soul’s far greater, apply for, accept, God’s grace.

No one replaces Bro/Sis “x”

“No man is irreplaceable”
is said when a man’s “married to his job.” This is sort-a-true for a factory worker. It is so untrue in other ways. Within the family NO ONE replaces Dad (or Mom) or that certain someone. Within the family of God, no one replaces Bro/Sis “x” as long as his/her contemporaries live. G R French was a part of last night’s dream. I miss Bob; in a way we weren’t close but I highly respected him, his mind, his personality, and influence in our midst. I enjoyed working with and for him.
