Tit 2.5 +

Tit 2.5

“…be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands,

that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

“There were at least a hundred & fourteen gathered in that upper chamber

who were not called to be sacred writers.”
– Daniel Steele

Advice to a lady looking for a husband who’ll provide for her (& hopefully children to come), watch his spending habits. Is he always putting money into his truck? (Or dreaming what he’d do on/for it if he had the money.) Is he updating his electronic toys every few weeks/months? Does he buy himself new clothes & then more new clothes? These could be warning signs of future problems.

“Nominal Christians are the greatest obstacle

to the advance of the kingdom of heaven.”

– Daniel Steele, quoted by M W Knapp

FLAKES FELL

The snow came down With not a sound

And lay all around Covering a cold ground.

It piled up on wall, And on trees tall,

A blanket over all; As leaves had been in fall.

Luk 18.1

“…Men ought always to pray,

and not to faint;”

Retired? Good; happy for you. You have extra time to spend with God. No, I’m not speaking of extra time *for* God (pastors appreciate volunteers, I’m sure) I speak of quality time /With/ your Heavenly Father. Get to know Him better before you die. Expand your knowledge of Him by extending reading of His Letter but even that can keep you for reveling in His presence, from adoring Him, one – on – One. You know how you like your child to spend time with you? I believe He’d love for us to do likewise with Him.

“There is a pleasure in being in a ship beaten about by a storm when we are sure that it will not founder. The persecutions which harass the Church are of this nature.”

 – Blaise Pascal /Pensees/

Advice to men looking for a wife who’ll be slim J) 20 years after marriage. If she’s running now to keep her weight down she may gain a good bit later. Later she may not be able to run: while pregnant, while watching children & cooking meals for you. Running is a form of self-discipline (we can admire) but perhaps the better self-discipline is eating less, eating healthier. [P.S. this is not aimed at any one person.]

“God never made a promise

that was too good to be true.”

– D L Moody
